Frequently Asked Questions
We try our best to accommodate our patients as much as possible when scheduling appointments. We have found that preschool children are better to be seen early in the morning when they are fresher and more cooperative. Likewise, children with a lot of dental work to be done should be seen in the morning we well. We realize that after-school appointments are often the most convenient. However, there may be times when we will need to schedule your appointment earlier in the day.
We request 24-hours notice if you need to cancel your appointment. We are aware that unforeseen events sometimes require missing an appointment, but we ask for your help as a courtesy to all of our patients.
We invite you to stay with your child during the initial examination. During future visits, if you choose, you may observe your child receiving treatment. Please feel free to ask questions at any time. For safety and privacy of all patients, children who are not being treated should remain in the reception room with a supervising adult.
In case of an emergency, we are available during our regular office hours (listed above). At other times, our answering machine will provide you with the phone number of the doctor on call.
We make every effort to provide a treatment plan which fits your timetable and budget and gives your child the best possible care. Your treatment plan will include a breakdown of all applicable fees, and we will inform you of all costs before treatment is administered.
We accept cash, checks, MasterCard, Visa, Discover Card, Care Credit and most dental insurance plans.
You must be familiar with your insurance plan. As a courtesy to you, we will try to estimate what your plan covers and file your claim electronically on the day of treatment. However, we cannot and do not guarantee what your insurance will or will not pay on your claim because we do not have the contract with your insurance company, you do.
Typically, most insurance plans pay between 50%-80% and imply that any fee greater than their "allowable fee" is unreasonable or well above what most dentists charge. This is simply not true. What your insurance plan does cover is determined by how much you or your employer paid for coverage and the type of plan your employer set up. In general, less expensive plans will use lower "allowable fees". Regardless of what your insurance company pays, you are ultimately responsible for any account balance.

The American Academy of Pediatrics, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Dental Association recommends that your child be seen for their first dental visit by the time they reach one year old. Let your child’s first tooth remind you that it’s time for them to see Dr. Solis. Early prevention and education is crucial at this time. The first visit includes a review of your child’s medical and dental history and an initial examination. At this time, we will “count your child’s teeth.” After a comprehensive examination, we will discuss our dental findings with you. Dental x-rays or “pictures,” if necessary are also taken to ensure a thorough examination followed by oral hygiene instruction to emphasize proper oral health care.
All aspects of a preventive dental health program including diet, hygiene and fluoride will also be discussed. It is always better to make a first dental appointment before your child has a dental problem. By establishing a dental home for your children, they are more likely to receive appropriate preventive and routine oral health care as they grow from infants through their teenage years. At Dentistry Just For Kids, we encourage you to be an active member of your child’s oral health care.
Please print and fill out our new patient forms and bring them completed with your insurance card to your first appointment.
Pediatric Dentistry is the dental specialty recognized by the American Dental Association which encompasses comprehensive dental care for all children, from infancy through adolescence.

A thorough exam will be done to evaluate the health of your child’s teeth, gums and mouth. Dr. Solis and his team strives to make each visit fun, educational and memorable for you and your child.

Establishing your Child's Dental Home

• Comprehensive oral health care including acute care and preventive services.
• Individualized preventive dental health program based upon a caries-risk assessment.
• Anticipatory guidance regarding growth and development.
• Plan for acute dental trauma (emergencies).
• Dietary counseling.
• Referrals to dental specialists when care cannot directly be provided within the dental home.
• Referral at an age determined by patient, parent, and pediatric dentist.
